DC and AC Capacity Calculation
The DC capacity displayed in the power dashboard is determined based on the number of trackers generated by the automated layout generation tool. From this DC capacity, the AC capacity is calculated based on the target DC/AC ratio set by the user in the layout generation settings.
AC Capacity = DC Capacity / DC/AC Ratio Target
Since PCUs, PTS and string inverters have fixed capacities, the initial AC power calculated is further refined to represent the actual installed AC capacity based on the equipment chosen. The final DC/AC ratio may therefore differ from the target specified.
The AC power value used for the equipment is always the nominal value stated on the datasheet before equipment derating occurs. This is typically around 30°C but is however dependent on the nominal value set by the OEM. The DC/AC ratio therefore always refers to this nominal value and the installed capacity (at the inverter output) rather than the capacity at the point of connection or other point in the system.
