Subscription Model

AutoPV uses a flexible subscription model with two main components that give your team access to our design generation tools. Many platform features are available without any subscription.

Platform Access

Free platform access:

  • You can access AutoPV and use many features without an active subscription
  • Available features include layout generation, design overview information, and project management
  • View and modify existing designs and projects
  • Access downloadable outputs from completed designs

Subscription Seats

What are subscription seats?

  • Subscription seats are like licenses that enable users to run design generation tools
  • You can assign these seats to any team member in your company
  • Each user with a seat gets unlimited concept design runs across all your company's projects

  • Easy to reassign seats as your team changes

Design Capacity

What is design capacity?

  • Design capacity is measured in megawatts of DC capacity (MWdc) and determines how much detailed design work your company can do
  • You purchase a pool of MWdc capacity that can be shared across all your projects
  • Only users with subscription seats can use this capacity for detailed design runs
  • Important: Design capacity never expires - even if your subscription lapses, your purchased capacity remains available

How it works:

  1. Allocate capacity to projects - Assign MW from your company pool to specific project sites
  2. Run detailed designs - Subscribed users can run unlimited detailed designs on projects with allocated capacity
  3. Reallocate as needed - Move unused capacity between projects

Example:

  • Your company has 100MW total capacity
  • You allocate 50MW to Project A
  • Any subscribed user can now run unlimited detailed designs on Project A (up to 50MW DC capacity)
  • You still have 50MW available to allocate to other projects

Flexible Subscription Options

You can purchase components independently:

Option 1: No subscription (Free)

  • Access platform features like layout generation and design overview
  • View and manage existing projects and designs
  • Cannot run new concept or detailed designs

Option 2: Seats only

  • Purchase subscription seats without design capacity
  • Subscribed users on your team can run unlimited concept designs
  • Cannot run detailed designs until capacity is added
  • Perfect for initial design exploration or concept-focused work

Option 3: Seats + Capacity

  • Purchase both subscription seats and design capacity
  • Full access to concept and detailed design runs
  • Most comprehensive option for active project development

Option 4: Add capacity later

  • Start with seats only, add design capacity when needed
  • Both seats and capacity can be purchased at any time
  • Scale your subscription as your needs grow

Understanding Capacity Usage

When is capacity considered "used"?

  • Capacity is used when you complete a detailed design run
  • We only count your largest detailed design per project
  • Unused capacity can be released back to your company pool

Real-world example:

  • Project A has 50MW allocated
  • You've run several detailed design runs: 30MW, 44.7MW, and 35MW
  • Only 45MW is considered used (rounded up from your largest design of 44.7MW)
  • You can release 5MW back to your company pool for other projects

What Happens If Your Subscription Lapses?

Platform access remains:

  • You can still access AutoPV and use non-generation features
  • Layout editing, design overview, and project management remain available
  • Previously completed designs remain fully accessible

Design capacity is permanent:

  • Any design capacity you've purchased remains in your account
  • You can still reallocate capacity between projects

Subscription seats are required for design runs:

  • You'll need active subscription seats to run new concept designs
  • You'll need both active seats and allocated capacity for detailed design runs
